Silvio Gomez Bibika je ključna figura brazilske rock scene tijekom 80’ih. Za SolinLive će nam reći više o tome razdoblju, prijateljstvu s članovima benda Sepulture, kao i o ostavštini tog benda.
To begin with, can you introduce yourself to us and tell us something about yourself?
I am a brazilian guy from Belo Horizonte , I did grow up on the neighborhood of Santa Teresa , very musical area , I was neighbor to a famous composer and singer Lô Borges , that’s started a movement calls Clube d Esquina with the famous brazilian singer Milton Nascimento , after few years I met Max and Iggor from Sepultura (before they start the band) and we became friends and the rest is history……
You come from Brazil, Belo Horizonte. You are considered a key figure in the development of the rock scene in the 80s in Brazil, so I was interested to tell us more about it, as well as about your band Mutilator.
Well the whole thing happen really fast , Rock n Rio just help increase the scene , many bands starting poping from every corner , Sepultura and Mutilador were just some of then among Chakal , Overdose, Holocausto and Sarcófago.
Back then we have no much to do other than looking for trouble , so the music and the metal scene was an scape for the police and religion repression …..
You are a close friend of the members of Sepultura, which is why you have been called the fifth member. Please tell us about your relationship with Sepultura members.
Oh yeah , they like family to me , even I had left the job with then almost 16 years a go , I come to their shows when they are in town , even Max and Iggor, with Soulfly and CC …..I still talk must with Andreas when he answers hahahhahahahahaha and Iggor thru WhatsApp
As I said in an interview with former guitarist Jairo Guedz, a documentary about Sepultura came out a couple of years ago, so there are books about the band like Relentless, a biography of former frontman Max Cavalera and your book in collaboration with André Barcinski.What is your view of the legacy of Sepultura?
It’s enormous, not only for the brazillian music scene but as a whole as a metal music worldwide, their legacy we last long
What is the situation in Brazil now, when it comes to rock music? What names would you like to recommend us to listen to?
Thats a good question , I have a wide taste for music , so I listen to many different styles , from the metal scene I like Chakal ,Eminence , the new The Misty is awesome , Krysium , RDP are my idols , also some indie bands like Moons also from Belo Horizonte with is an amazing band and live the just kill , Def kids is great too plus a singer call Seu wish just release a album with Andreas doing all 7strings acoustic guitar and Marisa Monte , and of course Lo Borges , Milton Nascimento and beto Guedes founders of the clube da esquina , Rita Lee and Mutantes and Secos and Molhados from the 70’s

Ja sam Brazilac iz Belo Horizontea, odrastao sam u četvrti Santa Teresa, vrlo glazbenom području, bio sam susjed poznatom kompozitoru i pjevaču Lô Borgesu, to je pokrenulo pokret pod nazivom Clube d Esquina sa poznatim brazilskim pjevačem Miltonom Nascimento, nakon nekoliko godina upoznao sam Maxa i Iggora iz Sepulture (prije nego što su osnovali bend) i postali smo prijatelji a ostalo je povijest……
Dolazite iz Brazila, Belo Horizonte. Smatrate se ključnom figurom u razvoju rock scene 80-ih godina u Brazilu, pa me zanimalo reći nešto više o njoj, kao i o vašem bendu Mutilator.
Pa cijela stvar se događa jako brzo, Rock n Rio samo pomaže povećati scenu, mnogi bendovi počinju iskakati iz svakog ugla, Sepultura i Mutilador su bili samo neki od tada među Chakal, Overdose, Holocausto i Sarcófago.
Tada nismo imali puno posla osim tražiti nevolje, tako da su glazba i metal scena bili mjesto za policijsku i vjersku represiju….
Bliski ste prijatelj članova Sepulture, zbog čega ste prozvani petim članom. Recite nam o svom odnosu s članovima Sepulture.
Oh da , oni mi vole obitelj , čak i ja sam napustio posao prije skoro 16 godina, dolazim na njihove nastupe kad su u gradu, čak i Max i Iggor, sa Soulflyjem i Cavalera Conspiracy (bend braće Cavalera, op.prev.)…..još uvijek moram razgovarati s Andreasom (Andreas Kisser, gitarist Sepulture, op.prev.) kad odgovori hahahhahahahahah i s Iggorom (bivši bubnjar Sepulture, op.prev.) preko WhatsAppa
Kao što sam rekao u intervjuu s bivšim gitaristom Jairom Guedzom, dokumentarni film o Sepulturi izašao je prije nekoliko godina, tako da postoje knjige o bendu poput Relentless, biografija bivšeg frontmena Maxa Cavalere i vaša knjiga u suradnji s Andréom Barcinski.Kako gledate na naslijeđe Sepulture?
To je ogromno, ne samo za brazilsku glazbenu scenu, već u cjelini kao metal glazbu širom svijeta, njihovo naslijeđe traje dugo
Kakva je sada situacija u Brazilu, kada je rock glazba u pitanju? Koja imena biste nam željeli preporučiti da poslušamo?
To je dobro pitanje, imam širok ukus za glazbu, pa slušam mnogo različitih stilova, od metal scene volim Chakal, Eminence, novi The Misty je super, Krysium, RDP su moji idoli, također neki indie bendovi poput Moons također iz Belo Horizontea sa nevjerojatnim bendom I Live The Just Kill , Def Kids je također super plus pjevač koji zove Seu koji želi samo izdati album s Andreasom (Andreas Kisser, gitarist Sepulture, op.prev.) koji svira akustičnu gitaru na svim 7 žicama i Marisom Monte , i naravno Lo Borgesom , Miltonom Nascimentom i Beto Guedes osnivači Clube da Esquina , Rita Lee i Mutantes i Secos i Molhados iz 70-ih
